England 1936 - 1939 Formal training at Brighton School of ArtWar Years Nursing, becoming State Registered at the London Hospital in 19461953 After the war combined these two disciplines by training as a medical artist, and after various hospital appointments became artist at the postgraduate Institute of Urology, University of London. The profession at this time was in its early days and the work was innovative, serving all the consultant surgeons and the physicians and requiring a wide range of techniques and a detailed knowledge of anatomy.1968 Elected Fellow of the Medical Artists Association of Great Britain1969 Appointed Lecturer in Medical Art at the Institute of Urology, having acquired an international reputation as a specialist in the interpretation of operative techniques for book illustrations, lecture material and teaching and teaching exhibitions.Developed a unique technique of film animation using plasticene models for the clarification of surgical procedures.1979 Awarded an MBE for services to medicine. (The first of only two medical artists to have received this award)1979 onwards Made a complete break with representational work and have developed a unique technique using gouache suitable for expressing a continuing fascination with geometrical forms.1984 Elected Fellow of the Free Painters and Sculptors.Works on show at the Barbican, Mall Galleries, Bloomsbury Galleries, and four one-person exhibitions at the Loggia Gallery.
