LUC BENEDETTI

1970

Luc Benedetti, son of Livio Benedetti. Much of Luc's inspiration comes from the world of sport, being based on the human body in motion - the tension, strength and power. Luc strives to overcome the static quality of bronze via choreographic sequences, thus harnessing the movement in his work. He pares down all superfluous details in order to concentrate on what he considers the essentials, leaving him with his graceful, flowing, willowy figures. As a former rugby player himself it is of no surprise that this sport is Luc's primary source of inspiration. He is fascinated by the passion and diversity of it's players, with it's solitary runs and collective charges- furious power struggles and then the moments of intense concentration that appears to freeze time. 'Solitude' created by Luc Benedetti was purchased by the World Rugby Museum at Twickenham
