Sandra Blow born 1925-2006 Abstract painter born in London where she continued to live, but also had a studio in Cornwall. Blow studied at St Martin's school of Art 1941-6. In 1947-7 she studied at the Royal Academy school of Art under Ruskin Spear, and from 1947-8 travelled to Rome to study at the Rome Academy of Arts. She often used materials such as polyurethane and willow cane to construct her pictures. Blow has been said to be concerned pre-eminently with the problems of pure painting: balance and proportion, tension and scale. The Tate holds her work.
