Produces themed work, one subject often suggesting the next. Horse and rider images and sculptural yet sensuous nudes particularly associated with Key. He was a long term member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts. First Prize winner there in 1971. Frequent solo exhibitions at Salford Art Gallery from 1966. First London show in 1974. Exhibited in Amsterdam, Dublin, New York, Japan, Switzerland, Hong Kong, France and Germany.
