A RATHER AWKWARD PAUSE
a beautiful example of this series of Robin Hawes work, subtle mix of colours but still with the strength and impact acrylic on panel Robin Hawes latest body of work explores the visual interpretation of a perceived two-dimensional surface and the ways in which this perception changes in relation to the viewer's movement and proximity to the work. The artist goes on to play games with the viewer, hiding the title within the work. The titles are taken from excerpts of classic literature that play with ideas of change or illusion such as Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, or Lewis Carroll's, Alice Through the Looking Glass or The Strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louse Stevenson.
